Well, unfortunately, injured VeeVee couldn’t get past also injured ReeRee, I’m happy that she got to the finals as I’m sure not only me but many thought that she wouldn’t even win a match. It’s also fitting that the world number 1 is undefeated this year in Doha. Doha is also ReeRee’s first non slam title since 2004- not very surprising at all and she’ll also end the year as the number 1 for the first time since 2002.
Serena also got a big cheque for her effort of playing well for more than 8 weeks of the year.

Also unsurprising was ReeRee’s decision not to play in the Fed cup, I’m shocked that she was even considered to play in the first place, it’s in Italy on clay by far her worst surface and she hasn’t played for the Fed cup since 2007, she didn’t help get the team into the finals so I don’t see why she should be allowed to play in the final, it’s kind of a slap in the face for those who got the USA there in the first place it’s like saying ‘thank for doing all the hard work and getting the USA to the Fed cup finals but were’s replacing you with Serena for the finals because she is better than you’. I’m glad that she’s not playing it’ll give her time to prepare for next season and for the other american girls’ star to shine.
